Name: Mayonaka Heion
Age: 23
Birthday: 8/7
Gender: Female
Village: Sound
Height: 5’7
Weight: 128
Bloodline: None
Elemental Type: Wind and Earth
Appearance: Mayonaka has long red hair that reaches her lower back. In order to keep it from becoming cumbersome during battle she keeps it in a high bun held in place by four senbon, and allows only two strips of hair to fall out on the right side. Her eyes are a soft blue with flecks of green and her skin is a pale ivory. Her clothing consists of a short, sleeveless black kimono that has the Kanji for loyalty embroidered over the heart. Holding the kimono together is a purple sash and beneath the kimono she wears purple shorts. On her left thigh is a kunai holster.
Special Item: Naginata, senbon, and kunai. She prefers to rely upon her Naginata skills.
Rank: Jounin
History: Mayonaka was born into a family of civilians. They ran a small tea house and always hoped for an heir to take it from them in their later years. That dream was taken from them when, in her fourth year, an unattended candle set the tea house ablaze. The family found themselves destitute and turned to Yasashii Heion, a respected ninja, for assistance. Respectable as he was the man was not wealthy so the most he could offer was to care for their daughter as his own. Wanting what was best for their daughter they agreed and moved in hopes of rebuilding until the day they could reclaim their daughter.
Mayonaka officially took on the name of Heion on her sixth birthday after a letter was received from her mother. It simply said, “My dearest Yoru has passed and now I am to wed another. Please, Yasashii, continue to love her as we did.” Yasashii kept his word and began molding her to become a kunoichi within the month. If she was to carry his name, then she was to carry its burden as well.
The years slipped by in training sessions and blood. There was no room to fail if she wished to do her “Father” the honor he deserved. As a Genin she was placed under the guidance of Haji, a woman who lived only for her village. She saw her minions, as she so loved to call them, as the future of Sound. Due to this mindset she trained the three relentlessly in chakra control, weapons use, and jutsu. Once she believed in their strength she promised them each full access to her collection of scrolls should they pass their Chunin exam on their first attempt. Knowing how powerful the woman was Mayonaka decided she would pass or die, because failure was no option.
True to her word Mayonaka was promoted to Chunin at the age of 15. Of her team she was the only one to do so, and Haji kept her word. Within the scrolls Mayonaka found powerful wind jutsus and would spend months on them, one at a time, until they were mastered. Yasashii took an active role in her training at this point. He did so with the complaint that her weapons usage was pathetic at best. He made her use each weapon he threw at her. When she was not away on missions, the two were found practicing on a training ground. Yasashii was ruthless in his training and never held back. Afterall, the best way to learn about a weapon was to identify its strengths and weaknesses simultaneously. Sparring was perfect for this. The two would attack at full strength and to the untrained eye it appeared to be purely out of hate rather than the love that it was. The first time Mayonaka defeated Yasashii was with a naginata. After that small victory she regarded it as her best weapon. It symbolized how far she had come and how much farther she could go. Yasashii just scoffed at that thinking calling it a fool’s sentimentality. Whether he was right or not didn’t matter since he rarely won when she wielded the weapon.
At the age of 20 she had achieved the level of Jounin, but her celebration was not long lived. When she returned from an extended mission she found that Yasashii had died. While it grieved her she never cried. There was no reason to weep for one who made the ultimate sacrifice for what they believed in. However, as his child she took claim of all his property, scrolls and weapons. She had never learned from the Heion scrolls during Yasashii’s life, but in his death they were his gift. Mayonaka spent every waking moment reading over them and practicing because the moment she mastered one she burnt the scroll. It was fitting really. Scrolls of Earth Jutsus being returned to the earth. Besides, to carry the name was to carry the burden and it was her’s alone.
Death and blood were what she was bathed in from the moment she became a Heion. A killer who felt only for herself, her village, and the man who was buried.
Hobbies: Mayonaka’s true passions are power and enlightenment. With these as her goals most of her free time is spent training, meditating, or studying whatever is handy.
Personality: She is a very driven person with an edge of sarcasm. She is also slow to go to anger and smiles easily, though it rarely reaches her eyes. She chooses to keep few friends, but is fiercely loyal to those she has. Unfortunately, she has a rather bad habit of spending all of her money on any book she can get her hands on. She really is just a book junkie at heart.
